InBody Scan in Austin: Body Composition You Can Track

InBody Scan in Austin

Muscle, fat and where they sit, measured on the same device under the same conditions so the trend is honest.

A bathroom scale gives you one number that hides everything that matters. Two people at the same weight can carry completely different amounts of muscle and fat, and the scale won't tell you which is which.

The InBody 580 measures skeletal muscle mass, body fat percentage, body water and segmental balance, which is how muscle and fat distribute across your arms, trunk and legs.

Why we run it on the same device, every time

Repeatability is the whole point. Same device, same conditions, same protocol, so a change in the number is a change in you rather than a change in the method. That's what makes the trend worth acting on.

How it fits the training

The scan is one input beside posture and gait. Body composition tells us what you're carrying; the movement assessment tells us how you're carrying it. The plan comes from both.

InBody scans track the base under functional strength training and longevity training.

At Kinetic Blueprint: Standalone InBody 580 scans for $45, with the option to credit that toward an assessment (if booked within 14 days). What's a good score on an InBody scan?
There's no single good score, because healthy ranges shift with age, sex and training history. The useful read is your own trend across repeat scans: skeletal muscle mass up, body fat percentage down or steady, segmental balance evening out.
What can throw off an InBody scan?
Hydration, a recent meal, a recent hard session, and time of day all move the reading. That's why we scan under the same conditions each time. A single scan is a snapshot; the trend across scans is the measurement.
How often should you get an InBody scan?
Often enough to see a trend and not so often that you're reading noise. Most clients re-scan alongside their training re-test rather than weekly.
Is an InBody the same as a DEXA scan?
No. A DEXA scan is the reference standard for a single precise snapshot. InBody uses bioelectrical impedance, which is quick and repeatable on the same device. In a study of three InBody models, readings barely moved between tests 24 to 72 hours apart, and they read body fat a little lower than DEXA (PMID 30472111). If you want one precise number, get a DEXA. If you want to know whether your training is working, the InBody trend under the same conditions is the practical tool.
